The main purpose of this role is to provide financial administration and support to the Grants officer, Research Operations Manager, Finance Team, Project Leaders and on-site clinical research staff. The ideal candidate should be professional, organised and capable of dealing with all aspects of finance and procurement within a diverse multi-disciplinary research team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate with a National Diploma in Finance and/ or related Management field
  • Minimum of 2 years administration experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience working on SAP or similar financial accounting system
  • Computer literacy in Ms Office (Intermediate) and working knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency in English
  • Strong planning and organizing skills
  • Attention to detail and good numeracy skills
  • Problem solving skills and solution driven
  • Excellent work standards
  • Client focus
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Advantageous:

  • Grant administration experience; within the academic research environment
  • Valid code 08 driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day financial and purchase administration of all grants assigned to the research site
  • Processing purchase requests on SAP
  • Following up on deliveries with suppliers
  • Researching materials and vendors so that delivery time, cost and equality are optimal when required
  • Preparation of management reports in line with DTHF reporting requirements
  • Communication of financial and purchasing policies and procedures to site staff
  • Preparation of internal reports for financial analysis
  • Managing projects assets by informing Asset Coordinator of purchase and movement
  • Monitoring monthly expenditure allocations in SAP for internal reporting
  • Managing and maintaining documents of the purchasing process
  • Preparing monthly reports for internal review
  • Co-ordinating and managing of weekly/ monthly petty cash processes
  • Any other tasks and duties that may be appropriate to this position
