In the UK & Ireland, they have over 150 employees, 3 CO2 terminals, 1 CO2 filling station, sales offices and 3 dry ice production plants. The UK head office, where this role will be based is in Immingham, North East Lincolnshire.
Your new role
Due to retirement, this role is a stand-alone and generalist HR Manager for the UK & Ireland region of this European group and is responsible for providing the necessary support in the HR area to the Businesses. Reporting to both the UK & Ireland Business Manager and functionally into the HR Director of Europe.
You will be responsible for all people related activity. You will proactively look after the site’s team, champion the company culture & values and manage all aspects of HR.
This is a senior role as part of the Senior Leadership Team – operating at both a strategic and operational level, managing activities in the following areas:
- Providing leadership and support to the employee HR life cycle: from hiring, developing, performance reviews to exiting, using the Corporate, European or local policies and practices, always in line with the local legislation.
- Work with the HR Europe team on the development and introduction of new HR systems that bring added value to the businesses, assures the implementation of new systems by training management and taking care of the communication processes.
- Recommending and implementing compensation and benefit policies that ensure the attraction and retention of highly qualified and motivated employees in line with the Nippon Gases Europe policies.
- Recommending and implementing Variable compensation and sales incentive plans that align with the business strategies both short and long term of Nippon Gases Europe.
- Providing leadership in the organisational development through the market-driven forecasting model and capacity planning that ensures the proper staffing levels.
- In charge of industrial relations from the HR side.
- Provide management with advisory support regarding effective human resources practises (proactive and reactive HR issues.)
- Responsible for coordinating all HR activities in payroll, payroll related plans, HR reporting and forecasting. Always in line with Nippon Gases policies and procedures at Corporate, European and local level and line with local legislation.
- Responsible for the roll out, in the region, of Nippon Gases Europe talent development programs and trainings. Supporting and Promoting the Performance Development Plan (PDP) is of high importance.
- Be the key person in the region in the use of the HR ERP, People Hub.
- Maintaining key contacts with the Euro-Holdings organisation and the local departmental leaders to guarantee that the company is respecting the legal requirements.
- Will have a small team to support.
- Provide strategic guidance to management on employee relations issues. Ensure the company’s employee relations practices are sound, legally compliant, and support both company and employee needs.
This is truly a great role for someone who wants a Leadership role in their HR career but still retaining an operational bias.
What you'll need to succeed
- A relevant post-graduate and / or CIPD qualification desired – or of suitably equivalent level experience
- Ideally manufacturing and trade union environment background – or similar blue collar sector industry
- A strong HR knowledgebase and skill set, with previous experience operating in a stand-alone position within a high performing growth organisation.
- Project management and change management skills
- Knowledge and experience of UpToDate UK employment law
- Experience of managing Employee Relations and Trade Unions
- Senior leadership skills such as: Conflict Management, Developing Employees at all levels, Priority Setting, Process Management
- Timely Decision Making, Excellent communication skills
- Ability to travel - geographical area covered in UK & Ireland - based in Immingham/ NE Lincolnshire, Hounslow, Wilton, Aberdeen and Dublin
