Wording Specialist, Birmingham (Hybrid) - £50,000 - £60,000 + benefits
An entrepreneurial insurance business is looking to appoint an experienced Wording Specialist to play a key role in the development, control, and governance of policy wordings across a diverse delegated authority portfolio.
This is a genuinely influential position, sitting at the heart of underwriting, compliance, product, IT, and insurer relationships. You'll be trusted to translate technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements into clear, accurate, and well-controlled documentation that stands up to scrutiny and delivers real customer clarity.
What you'll be doing
- Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining policy wordings and related technical documentation (including endorsements, IPIDs, schedules, certificates, and customer communications).
- Supporting product and wording change activity, ensuring updates are accurately reflected across documentation and policy systems.
- Ensuring documentation aligns with FCA expectations, Product Governance frameworks, Consumer Duty requirements, insurer delegations, and internal standards.
- Assessing the impact of wording and system changes, identifying regulatory, underwriting, operational, and customer risks.
- Managing version control, audit trails, and quality standards across policy administration and document generation systems.
- Supporting testing activity (proofreading, system integration testing, UAT) to ensure accuracy and customer clarity.
- Maintaining clear change logs and knowledge-base documentation to support renewals and regulatory review.
- Working closely with underwriting, compliance, product, IT, insurers, and third-party providers to deliver changes effectively.
- Monitoring regulatory developments to ensure documentation remains current and market-leading.
What we're looking for
- Strong experience working with insurance policy wordings within an MGA, insurer, or delegated authority environment.
- Solid understanding of FCA regulation, Product Governance, and Consumer Duty as they relate to policy documentation.
- Excellent technical and underwriting knowledge, with strong risk awareness.
- A confident communicator who can engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple change initiatives across complex, multi-scheme environments.
Why apply?
You'll be joining a fast-moving, collaborative business where your expertise genuinely matters. This is a chance to shape documentation standards, influence product quality, and play a visible role in supporting sustainable, profitable growth - not just maintain the status quo.
