Interim Accountant – 5-Month Contract
London | Day-rate contract | ASAP start

FryerMiles is partnering with an international business to recruit an Interim Accountant on an initial five-month contract.

This is a hands-on opportunity combining financial accounting, product control and group reporting, with a particular focus on year-end close and external audit delivery.

You’ll work closely with Finance, Trading and Operations to maintain accurate reporting, resolve accounting queries and strengthen controls.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering month-end and year-end close activities for assigned entities and accounting areas.

  • Preparing journals, balance-sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items.

  • Reviewing trial balances, revenue, costs and balance-sheet movements for accuracy, completeness and appropriate cut-off.

  • Supporting reconciliations across physical commodity, futures and FX positions, including mark-to-market entries and intercompany balances.

  • Preparing group reporting submissions and commentary on profitability, working capital and financial performance.

  • Producing audit-ready evidence, statutory-account schedules and disclosures, and responding to external audit queries.

  • Identifying improvements to accounting processes, reporting and financial controls.

We’re looking for a qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent — with relevant experience in financial control, group reporting, product control or audit.

You’ll bring strong knowledge of close processes, balance-sheet controls and audit requirements, alongside advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets. Clear communication, attention to detail and the ability to investigate issues independently will be essential.

Commodity trading experience would be advantageous, particularly exposure to mark-to-market accounting, valuation queries or hedge reconciliations.

Experience with consolidation, multi-currency reporting, IFRS or finance systems improvements would also be useful.

Applicants should be available to start ASAP and able to commit to the initial five-month assignment.

To discuss the opportunity, please contact Simon at FryerMiles or apply with your CV.
