SLD Teaching Assistant – Slough

Pay: £85–£100 per day

Are you passionate about supporting children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)? A specialist SEN school in Slough is seeking a dedicated SLD Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with complex needs, including communication challenges and physical disabilities.

The school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment with a strong focus on personalised learning and therapeutic support. You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
• Assist with communication strategies, sensory activities, and adapted learning resources.
• Support personal care routines and promote independence.
• Implement behaviour and learning plans under teacher guidance.
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with children or young people with SLD, PMLD, or complex needs.
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable with a genuine passion for SEN education.
• Ability to use communication aids (PECS, Makaton) and sensory approaches.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to undertake training in safeguarding and specialist SEN strategies.
