English Teacher – Southampton Area Start Date: Immediate Contract: Until Easter 2026 Working Pattern: 3 days per week Pay: £160 – £250 per day (dependent on experience) Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Part‑Time Location: Southampton

Position Overview

Supply Desk is pleased to be supporting a secondary school in Southampton to recruit an English Teacher. This part‑time role begins immediately and will run through to Easter 2026, teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

You’ll be joining an English department that places a strong emphasis on high‑quality teaching, literacy development, and fostering a love of reading and writing. The role is suitable for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced practitioners who are passionate about helping students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and well‑structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support students in developing strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Assess and monitor progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the department’s curriculum planning and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in English or a related subject (essential).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills.
  • A passion for English and a commitment to delivering high‑quality lessons.
  • A positive, reflective, and collaborative approach.
