Behaviour Support Assistants – Primary & Secondary Support

Location: Haywards Heath & Surrounding Areas Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time – Flexible Start Dates Daily Rate: £89.05 – £110 Hours: School hours (typically 08:30–15:30)

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting pupils who need additional guidance, helping them stay engaged, regulated and confident in the classroom. Whether you’re working in a nurturing primary setting or supporting older students in secondary school, this role allows you to make a meaningful impact — all while working flexibly to suit your lifestyle.

We’re looking for dedicated, resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to join our team in Haywards Heath and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re seeking full‑time work or prefer flexible, day‑to‑day placements, we’ll match you with schools where your support truly matters.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs

  • Providing one‑to‑one or small‑group support to help pupils stay focused and engaged

  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies

  • Assisting teachers with behaviour plans and classroom routines

  • Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to promote pupil wellbeing and progress

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people (behaviour or SEN experience is a bonus)

  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach

  • Confidence supporting pupils with a range of behavioural and emotional needs

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
