Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Burnham to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Key Stage 2 practitioner to join a nurturing school environment and play a crucial role in preparing pupils for their transition to secondary school.

This role would suit a committed and driven teacher with a strong understanding of the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum, who is passionate about raising attainment and supporting pupils during this important stage of their education.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Key Stage 2 curriculum, ensuring pupils are well-prepared both academically and emotionally for SATs and the move to secondary school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 national curriculum
  • Preparing pupils for SATs through effective teaching, targeted interventions, and assessment
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform planning and support attainment
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and high-expectation classroom environment
  • Supporting pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Providing targeted support for pupils with varying abilities, including SEN
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
  • Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and SATs preparation
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • A motivated and engaging teaching style
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work full-time in Burnham from September

Desirable:

  • Experience leading or supporting SATs interventions
  • Knowledge of effective assessment strategies and pupil progress tracking
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs (SEN)
