Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Planning

• Design and deliver an engaging Geography curriculum that adheres to national standards.

• Plan lessons that are inclusive and tailored to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.

Classroom Teaching

• Provide high-quality, interactive Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Teach a broad range of geographical topics, such as climate change, ecosystems, urbanization, and global development.

• Utilize a variety of teaching methods, technology, and resources to enrich the learning experience.

• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active student participation.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

• Regularly assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments.

• Offer constructive feedback to support student growth and development.

• Keep accurate records of student progress, grades, and achievements.

Differentiation and Individualized Support

• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students at different levels of ability.

• Provide additional support or challenge to help all students achieve their personal best.

Communication and Collaboration

• Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and key updates.

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and participate in parent-teacher meetings.

Professional Development

• Stay current with the latest developments in geography education.

• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

The Ideal Candidate

• A degree in Education, Geography, or a related field (Master’s degree desirable).

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization in Geography for secondary education.

• Proven experience teaching Geography at the secondary level.

• Strong understanding of both physical and human geography, along with an awareness of global issues.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• A passion for teaching and creating a positive, challenging, and inclusive learning environment.

• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
