Teaching Assistant – SEND class in Primary

Location: Waterlooville

Contract: 2 days a week – Thursday and Friday Temporary

Hours: 8:30am – 3:15pm Pay: £82 – £95 per day

Start Date: ASAP

A well-regarded mainstream school in the Waterlooville area, is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support them 2 days a week in a specialised class. The position would require working with a KS1 SEND Classroom and a KS2 SEND Classroom. Experience of working with children who are neuro-diverse is essential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with Autism and additional needs such as ADHD, SEMH and other developmental challenges. You’ll work closely with teachers to help students access learning, develop independence and build confidence. The role includes both one-to-one support and small-group work within the classroom.

We’re Looking For Candidates Who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with additional or complex needs
  • Are confident working in a classroom environment
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Are patient, adaptable and responsive to individual pupil needs
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 – desirable but not essential)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism and related needs
  • Assist with classroom routines and learning activities
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
  • Support small group sessions and individual interventions
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community
