Position Overview

Supply Desk is working with a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton to recruit a committed and enthusiastic English Teacher for a long-term role starting in September. The school is open to offering a permanent contract for the right candidate.

You will be teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4, joining a department that values creativity, collaboration, and high-quality teaching. Applications are welcomed from ECTs, experienced teachers, and strong unqualified teachers with relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging English lessons that inspire students across a range of abilities
• Promote a strong culture of reading and writing
• Assess and track student progress in line with school and national expectations
• Contribute to curriculum development within the English department
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement
• Support wider school life through events, clubs, or enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in English or a closely related subject
• QTS (preferred) or relevant teaching experience
• Strong knowledge of the KS3–KS4 English curriculum
• Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English
• Confident classroom management and strong communication skills
• A commitment to inclusive education and ongoing professional development
