Job Title: KS3-4 History Teacher

Location: North Buckinghamshire
Start: September

Salary: £29,344-£44,919
Contract: Full Time | Long‑Term to Permanent 

History helps students understand power, change, consequences, and perspective. This secondary school is seeking a History Teacher who views the subject as more than content coverage and understands its role in developing critical thinking, literacy, and informed discussion.

You will teach History across KS3 and KS4, working within a supportive humanities department that values subject knowledge, thoughtful planning, and reflective practice.

Role and Responsibilities

As a History Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons that encourage enquiry, evaluation of evidence, and structured debate. You will guide students through key historical periods while supporting them to think independently and articulate ideas clearly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching History to KS3 and KS4 classes
  • Designing lessons that develop chronological understanding and analytical skills
  • Supporting students with extended writing and exam technique
  • Adapting teaching approaches for a range of learning needs
  • Using assessment data to inform planning and intervention
  • Creating a classroom environment built on curiosity, respect, and structure
  • Contributing to departmental planning and resource development

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience teaching History at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for the discipline
  • Ability to explain complex ideas clearly
  • Confident classroom management
  • Organised approach to planning and assessment
