CHEMISTRY TEACHER

Location: Aylesbury
Start: September 2026
Full Time: Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £29,344–£44,919

If students don’t understand the process, they won’t remember the result.
Chemistry only makes sense when each step is explained properly.

As a Secondary Chemistry Teacher, you will teach KS4 students using clear, structured lessons that build knowledge gradually and reinforce understanding over time.

Key responsibilities
Teach GCSE Chemistry
Break down chemical processes step by step
Explain reactions, equations, and calculations clearly
Support students with practical experiments safely
Reinforce subject-specific vocabulary
Prepare students for exams with structured revision
Track progress and address misconceptions

The classroom environment
Lessons are clear and sequential
Students understand how concepts connect
Practical work is organised and purposeful
Behaviour is calm and consistent

Skills and experience
Strong Chemistry subject knowledge
Experience teaching secondary preferred
Clear explanation and modelling skills
Strong classroom management

What success looks like
Students understand processes, not just results
Confidence grows in calculations and theory
Fewer repeated errors over time

QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with Chemistry or science-related backgrounds
