Purpose of the Role

This Primary Teaching Assistant role focuses on improving attainment for pupils who require extra academic support.

You will work outside and inside the classroom, delivering structured sessions in literacy and numeracy while helping pupils develop confidence and independence.

Key Duties

Deliver small‑group intervention sessions

Support phonics, reading fluency, spelling, and basic numeracy

Reinforce classroom learning following teacher guidance

Track pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers

Support pupils with focus and engagement

Maintain a supportive, consistent learning environment

Required Knowledge and Skills

Experience supporting primary‑aged pupils

Strong literacy and numeracy skills

Clear spoken English

Ability to motivate and encourage learners

Organised and reliable approach
