Job Role: Science Teacher
Location: Central Southampton
Pay: £168.80 – £250 per day (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full Time
Start Date: Easter 2026

Supply Desk is seeking a committed Science Teacher to join a secondary school in central Southampton. The school has just over 1,000 students and is rated Good by Ofsted. This is an excellent opportunity to teach across KS3 and KS4 within a supportive and well-organised environment. The role is a long term contract from January until July 2026 with the possibility of a permanent contract, The school will consider ECT’s and experienced Science teachers.

The Science department is well-resourced, offering a balanced mix of practical and theory-based learning. Staff work together to ensure clear expectations and effective support for all students aged 11–16.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Incorporate practical activities and demonstrations into lessons where appropriate
  • Track and assess student progress, providing feedback to support improvement
  • Establish a safe and focused classroom and laboratory environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Science department on curriculum planning
  • Maintain consistent behaviour expectations in line with school policies
  • Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general Science
  • Ability to motivate and support students with varying abilities
  • Effective communication and classroom management skills
  • A reliable, organised, and proactive approach to teaching
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
