Supply Desk is working in partnership with a specialist school in Burnham to recruit a compassionate and reliable PMLD Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and additional complex needs, helping them access education in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

The Role

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support to pupils with complex learning, physical, and communication needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD
• Assisting with personal care routines in line with care plans and safeguarding procedures
• Supporting pupils with sensory activities, communication systems, and therapeutic programmes
• Promoting engagement, independence, and emotional wellbeing
• Supporting the delivery of structured learning activities
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
• Ensuring a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment at all times

Requirements

• Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex needs (school, care, or SEND setting)
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Confidence supporting personal care and medical needs where required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
• Availability to start immediately
• Ability to travel to Burnham
