Food Technology Teacher (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Location: Secondary school in Southampton Start Date: September Contract: Long-Term or Permanent Pay Range: £168 – £250 per day (dependent on experience) Working Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (flexible for part-time applicants)

Overview

A vibrant and oversubscribed 11–16 secondary school in Southampton is seeking a Food Technology Teacher to join their Design & Technology department from September. The role is suitable for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers and can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

You will teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, contributing to a department that values creativity, practical learning, and high expectations. The school places strong emphasis on respect, pride, creativity and challenge, fostering a warm, supportive environment where staff and students work together as a community.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons
• Teach across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE preparation
• Promote safe, hygienic practices and uphold health and safety procedures
• Assess, track and support student progress
• Contribute to the wider DT curriculum, enrichment activities and departmental planning
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department and school

Requirements

• UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and ideally KS4
• Strong understanding of nutrition, food safety and practical food skills
• Good classroom management and communication skills
• A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach
• Applications welcomed from both ECTs and experienced teachers
