Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
  • Inspire students through the teaching of both physical and human Geography, encouraging curiosity about the wider world.
  • Plan and develop stimulating schemes of work that promote enquiry, analytical thinking, and geographical investigation skills.
  • Support students in understanding environmental, social, and global issues through relevant and engaging learning experiences.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including field trips, enrichment activities, and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student achievement and wellbeing.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching Geography at secondary level is preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge across physical and human Geography.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check and professional references.
