Food Technology Teacher – Portsmouth Area

Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Long‑term
Pay: £150 – £230 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full‑Time
Location: Portsmouth

Position Overview

Supply Desk is pleased to be supporting a secondary school in the Portsmouth area in their search for a Food Technology Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a long‑term opportunity within a supportive and forward‑thinking school environment.

This role is open to unqualified teachers who bring relevant experience in Food Technology, catering, or the food industry. Candidates who are confident delivering practical lessons and are up to date with food safety and hygiene certifications are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will be joining a creative and practical‑focused Design & Technology department that values real‑world experience and encourages students to develop essential life skills through Food Technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support students in developing cookery skills, nutritional understanding, and safe working practices.
  • Prepare and manage practical lessons, maintaining a safe and organised kitchen environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Work collaboratively with department staff to support student progress.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in Food Technology, catering, hospitality, or a related field (essential).
  • Up‑to‑date food hygiene and safety certifications (essential).
  • Experience working with young people or delivering training (desirable).
  • Confidence leading practical lessons and managing a classroom environment.
  • A positive, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to teaching.

Note: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not required for this role.
