Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (EHCP Support)

Location: Fareham

Start Date: April 2026 onwards

Contract: Fixed term (until July 2026, with potential extension)

Hours: 08:30 – 15:00, Monday to Friday

Pay: £14–£16 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), starting after April 2026.

The role will focus on supporting the student’s individual needs, enabling them to fully access learning and participate in school life. This may include a combination of academic support, emotional regulation, and assistance with any associated health or care needs outlined in the EHCP.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the student’s EHCP outcomes

  • Support the student’s engagement in lessons and wider school activities

  • Implement strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing

  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals

  • Assist with monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records

  • Follow all safeguarding, health, and safety procedures

  • Support any medical or personal care needs where required (training provided if necessary)


Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly EHCP-supported students

  • Understanding of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or medical needs (desirable)

  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to undertake relevant training

  • Previous Teaching Assistant or support role experience is desirable
