Primary Supply Teachers & HLTAs – Southampton & Surrounding Areas

Pay:

  • Teachers: £140 – £160 per day (depending on experience)
  • HLTAs: £110 – £130 per day Hours: 08:15 – 15:30 Start: Immediate

About the Role

Supply Desk are working closely with a number of Primary Schools across Southampton and the surrounding areas, who are seeking enthusiastic and reliable supply staff to support them with both short‑term daily cover and longer‑term placements.

As a supply teacher or HLTA, you will step into the classroom in the teacher’s absence, with all work set in advance. You’ll need to be confident with behaviour management, adaptable across year groups, and comfortable working in a variety of school environments. We can offer consistent, flexible work and a supportive, honest service.

We also offer a Guaranteed Pay Scheme, giving you financial security by guaranteeing pay for a set number of days each week—even if you are not placed.

Locations We Cover

We are looking for staff based in and around:

  • Southampton
  • Eastleigh
  • Totton
  • Hedge End
  • Romsey
  • Winchester
  • Fareham

We Are Looking For:

Primary Teachers who:

  • Are strong classroom practitioners with solid Primary curriculum knowledge
  • Can confidently teach across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2
  • Are adaptable, professional, and excellent communicators
  • Hold QTS / are registered with the GTC / ECTs welcome
  • Are comfortable supporting schools where behaviour may occasionally be challenging
  • Have a DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply)

HLTAs who:

  • Have proven experience supporting learning across Primary year groups
  • Can confidently lead whole‑class sessions when required
  • Are proactive, flexible, and confident in managing behaviour
  • Hold HLTA status or equivalent experience
  • Have a DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply)
