Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Rickmansworth

Full Time: Temporary to Permanent

Salary: £90-£120

What would your day look like?

Your day starts by helping students settle into a calm, structured routine before supporting them through lessons with tailored, one‑to‑one or small‑group activities. You’ll adapt tasks, use sensory strategies, and guide students through challenges, celebrating every small step of progress. Throughout the day, you’ll work closely with teachers to reinforce learning, build confidence, and support communication and emotional regulation. No two days are the same, but each one is filled with purpose, patience, and the joy of helping students grow.

  • Adapt and tailor support strategies to meet each student’s individual needs, helping them feel secure, confident, and ready to learn.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with students, parents, and staff to maintain strong, consistent relationships and ensure every child receives the support they need.
  • Encourage positive learning habits and emotional resilience, helping students build confidence and celebrate their achievements.
  • Support the delivery of engaging, accessible activities that make learning enjoyable, meaningful, and inclusive for every student.
  • Track progress and development closely, celebrating successes and identifying areas where additional support may be needed.

What you’ll bring:

  • Has previous experience working with children genuinely enjoys supporting them.
  • Builds safe, trusting relationships with pupils, where they feel comfortable to engage in lessons.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers and support staff, contributing ideas and maintaining a positive team dynamic.
  • Observes and responds to student needs sensitively, recognising when to encourage independence and when to provide reassurance.
  • Willing to learn and develop, showing an openness to training, feedback, and SEN‑specific strategies.
