Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Slough to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor. This role would suit an enthusiastic and resilient individual with a passion for supporting students, building positive relationships, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to engage positively with their education and achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to ensure students receive the guidance and support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning across the school
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, resilience, and confidence
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help overcome barriers to learning
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support strategies
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes
  • Support the school's behaviour policy and contribute to a positive learning environment
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate
  • Assist in de-escalating challenging situations and promoting restorative practices

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or youth setting
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting students' wellbeing and educational outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs is desirable

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or Learning Support Assistant
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, or other additional needs
  • Understanding of restorative approaches and positive behaviour strategies
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, youth work, or mentoring
