SEMH Teaching Assistant – Burnham

Supply Desk is recruiting experienced and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils in schools and specialist provisions in Burnham and the surrounding areas. This role is ideal for individuals with proven experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an ASAP start opportunity for candidates confident in managing behaviour and supporting positive emotional development.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who present with challenging behaviours and require targeted emotional and behavioural support. You may work one-to-one or in small groups, helping pupils engage with learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive coping strategies.

Support may include pupils with:

• SEMH needs
• Challenging behaviour
• Trauma-related behaviours
• ADHD
• Autism with behavioural difficulties

Roles are available across mainstream schools, SEMH provisions, and alternative settings in Burnham.

Requirements

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and challenging behaviour
• Confidence using de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
• Understanding of emotional regulation and trauma-informed approaches
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A calm, consistent, and resilient approach
• Availability for an ASAP start in Burnham
