Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
  • Plan and develop innovative schemes of work that inspire students to develop practical cooking skills and an understanding of nutrition and food science.
  • Teach a range of topics including food preparation, hygiene, safety, and healthy eating.
  • Create a safe, well-organised, and stimulating kitchen/classroom environment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
  • Promote independence, creativity, and confidence through practical learning experiences.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including clubs, competitions, and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student achievement and wellbeing.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level is preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge in food, nutrition, and health and safety practices.
  • Passion for practical education and developing essential life skills in students.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check and professional references.
