1:1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Primary School Teaching Assistant

Location: Watford

Start-date: September

Contract: Full-time

Pay: £85-£115pd (Dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are currently seeking an enthusiastic, caring and patient educator to support a year 1 student with Autism Spectrum Condition and behavioural challenges 1:1. This role is within a primary school in the Watford area, where an understanding of diverse values and backgrounds are integral to the school’s vibrant and successful culture.

The ideal candidate will have strong relationship building skills with an understanding of ASC. Behavioural management will be a key part of the role day-to-day and understanding the child’s boundaries, whilst promoting the school’s rules and expectations, will be an integral part of the successful candidate’s role.

Key responsibilities:

  • 1:1 support for a year 1 student with ASC and behavioural challenges
  • Tracking and reporting student’s progression
  • Liaising with parents/carers to deliver feedback
  • Managing behavior
  • Fostering calming techniques
  • Encouragement of participation in classroom activities
  • Managing student and school boundaries

Role Requirements:

  • Knowledge/Experience of ASC support
  • Primary school experience (Desirable)
  • Behavioural management skills
  • Passion for education
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
