Teacher of Sport – Sixth Form College (BTEC Level 3)

Location: Southampton Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Part‑time (2–3 days per week), long‑term cover until July 2026, with potential to become permanent Pay: £168 – £250 per day (dependent on experience)

The Role

The college is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Sport to deliver high‑quality teaching across BTEC Sport Level 3 courses. You will join a vibrant and supportive department committed to helping students achieve their full potential through engaging, challenging, and industry‑relevant learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging BTEC Sport lessons, combining theory and practical elements in line with course specifications.
  • Support students in completing coursework and preparing for externally assessed units.
  • Inspire learners to develop confidence, professionalism, and a passion for sport and physical activity.
  • Contribute to the wider Sport faculty, including enrichment, trips, and opportunities linked to the Academy of Sport.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Degree in Sport, Physical Education, or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching BTEC Sport (Level 2 or Level 3) or similar vocational qualifications.
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of vocational assessment.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour‑management skills.
  • Commitment to supporting young people to achieve academically and personally.
