Supply Desk is a well-established education recruitment agency specialising in Primary, SEND, and Secondary education. We partner with a wide range of schools across East Sussex, West Sussex, and Brighton & Hove, providing reliable and high-quality support staff and teachers. We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join supportive school settings in Eastbourne on a full-time basis.

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for empathetic and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to work full-time in schools across Peacehaven. This role involves supporting pupils who may experience challenges with behaviour, communication, sensory processing, or emotional regulation.

You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and engaged in their learning by working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide consistent and nurturing support.

Key Duties

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Implement individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and EHCP targets.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction skills.
• Use de-escalation techniques and a trauma-informed approach to manage behaviour positively.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs, including sensory and communication support.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to create an inclusive and structured environment.
• Promote independence, confidence, and wellbeing in all pupils.
• Uphold safeguarding procedures and support a nurturing school culture.

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs) in schools, care, or youth settings.
• A calm, patient, and understanding approach, with strong emotional resilience.
• Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and inclusive practices.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• A current enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Commitment to full-time, term-time work.

What We Offer

• Competitive daily rates of pay (£92.63–£100 per day).
• Support from dedicated education consultants with SEND expertise.
• Ongoing CPD and training opportunities, including SEN-focused development.
• Opportunities for long-term placements and permanent roles.
• ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme – earn up to £150 collectively.

If you are passionate about supporting children with SEN and want to make a meaningful impact in Peacehaven schools, we would love to hear from you. Please apply today.

Supply Desk is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS, including a children’s barred list check and, where applicable, a vulnerable adults barred list check, is required for all successful candidates.

To be considered for the role and the rates advertised, you must meet the minimum experience, training or qualifications stated and have the legal right to work in the UK. To be considered for a higher rate, in addition to meeting the minimum criteria, you must be able to demonstrate additional experience, training, and if applicable, qualifications. This role complies with AWR (2010) regulations protecting agency workers’ rights. Please note that this job expires after 90 days-you can, however, still apply to be considered for similar roles.
