PRIMARY YEAR 5 TEACHER

Full Time: Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £29,344–£44,919

Pupils understand the basics by now.
This is where they learn to apply them properly.

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will build independence, confidence, and preparation for Year 6 through structured and consistent teaching.

Key responsibilities
Teach the Year 5 curriculum across all subjects
Plan lessons with clear challenge and progression
Support pupils of varying abilities
Encourage independence in learning
Monitor and track pupil progress
Maintain consistent expectations and routines
Communicate with parents and staff

The classroom environment
Lessons are structured and focused
Pupils understand expectations
Behaviour is calm and controlled
Learning builds steadily

Skills and experience
Experience within KS2
Strong organisation and lesson planning
Confident classroom management
Ability to challenge pupils

What success looks like
Pupils work more independently
Confidence improves across subjects
Work becomes more detailed and accurate

QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with KS2 experience
