ELSA-Trained Teaching Assistant – Primary/Secondary School, Southampton

Location: Southampton, UK
Pay: £15 – £18 per hour (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: Full-Time / Part-Time options available
Contract Type: Fixed Term or Ongoing, depending on school needs

Supply Desk is seeking a caring and skilled ELSA-trained Teaching Assistant to join a primary/secondary school in Southampton. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one or small group interventions based on ELSA principles

  • Support students with emotional, social, or behavioural challenges

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENDCo, and pastoral staff to monitor progress

  • Provide pastoral support during unstructured times, e.g., break and lunch

  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and report outcomes

  • Uphold safeguarding and health & safety policies at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • ELSA qualification or equivalent training in emotional literacy support

  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

  • Organised, reliable, and proactive approach to supporting children

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
