About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Science to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Portsmouth from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to begin your teaching career within a structured and well-supported environment. You will teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the possibility to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics at Key Stage 4 depending on your subject strength.

As an ECT, you will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme, including a reduced timetable, dedicated mentoring, and regular CPD sessions designed to help you develop your teaching practice and confidence in the classroom.

This is a medium-to-large mixed secondary school with approximately 1,000–1,300 students aged 11–16, serving a diverse coastal community in Portsmouth. The school has a strong focus on academic progress, inclusion, and student wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds (or is working towards) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in a Science-related subject

  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 Science

  • Passionate about inspiring young people in Science

  • Willingness to learn, develop, and engage with the ECT programme

  • Strong communication and organisational skills
