Job Description

A specialist education centre in Southampton is seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths SEN Teacher to join their team from September. This role involves working with pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, in small, supportive class groups.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Maths lessons, carefully adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning styles and abilities. You will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, develop numeracy skills, and re-engage positively with education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored Maths lessons to small groups of students.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of SEN needs, including Autism and SEMH.
  • Work closely with support staff to create a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic learning.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with SEN students, particularly Autism and SEMH needs.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse needs.
  • Patient, resilient, and committed to inclusive education.
