Salary: £34,398 – £52,490 per year (dependent on experience)

Supply Desk is working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Downley to recruit a passionate History Teacher for a full-time role starting in September.

The Role

This role goes beyond textbooks – it’s about storytelling, enquiry, and helping students connect the past with the present. As a full-time History Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons and contributing positively to the wider humanities department.

You will:

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is desirable but not essential)
  • Deliver engaging, thought-provoking lessons that bring historical topics to life
  • Encourage debate, discussion, and critical analysis of sources and evidence
  • Plan, assess, and track pupil progress effectively
  • Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development

Requirements

You don’t just teach History – you make it memorable.

You will ideally:

  • Hold QTS, PGCE, ECT status, or equivalent (unqualified teachers also welcome to apply)
  • Have experience teaching History at secondary level
  • Be confident planning and delivering engaging lessons
  • Demonstrate a commitment to pupil progress and high standards
  • Bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and a genuine passion for History
