Secondary History Teacher

Location: Loughton
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full Time | Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £22,344 – £44,919

History matters.
Not because of dates and facts — but because it teaches students to question, analyse, debate and understand the world around them.

This school is looking for a Secondary History Teacher who believes that strong subject knowledge and strong teaching should go hand in hand. You’ll be teaching KS3 and KS4, helping students make sense of the past while developing critical thinking and discussion skills.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging History lessons aligned to the secondary curriculum
  • Encourage enquiry, debate and independent thinking
  • Adapt teaching to support different learning needs
  • Track progress and provide structured feedback
  • Be part of a reflective, collaborative department

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has QTS (desirable but not essential)
  • Has experience teaching History at secondary level
  • Enjoys fostering thoughtful discussion
  • Values clear expectations and positive classroom culture
