Position: ENGLISH TEACHER

Location: Aylesbury
Key Stages: KS3 and KS4

Salary:£29,344-£44,919

This English classroom is rarely silent.

There are moments of quiet reading, yes — but more often there is discussion, questioning, disagreement, refinement. Students are taught that words matter, that structure matters, and that clarity of thought comes before confidence of delivery.

This school is seeking a Secondary English Teacher who understands that strong literacy is built through deliberate practice, well‑modelled responses, and consistent feedback.

What Teaching English Looks Like Here

English teaching is not rushed. Lessons are carefully planned and intentionally paced. Reading is explicit. Writing is scaffolded before independence is expected.

You will teach KS3 and KS4, guiding students through:

  • Close reading and text interpretation
  • Vocabulary development and language choices
  • Clear paragraphing and extended responses
  • Exam‑ready structures without formulaic teaching

Your Responsibilitie

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering English lessons aligned to curriculum and exam expectations
  • Teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills explicitly
  • Supporting students with written accuracy and expression
  • Assessing work regularly and providing actionable feedback
  • Identifying pupils who need further literacy support
  • Maintaining a calm, purposeful classroom environment
  • Working collaboratively within the English department

Structure, clarity, and consistency are valued here more than performance or novelty.
