Science Teacher – Secondary School (KS3 & KS4)

Location: Basingstoke Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Long‑term cover until July 2027 (potential to go permanent) Pay: £168 – £250 per day (dependent on experience)

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join the school from September 2026.

This role is suitable for both ECTs looking for a nurturing start to their career and experienced Science teachers seeking a position within a collaborative and supportive department.

You will deliver high‑quality Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, contributing to a department that values teamwork, strong subject knowledge, and a passion for inspiring young people to explore the world through scientific thinking.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring lessons are accessible, challenging, and inspiring.

  • Plan and deliver curriculum‑aligned schemes of work that promote scientific enquiry and deep understanding.

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports behaviour expectations and student wellbeing.

  • Contribute to departmental development, sharing ideas and supporting colleagues.

  • Support extracurricular STEM opportunities that enrich the wider school experience.

  • Uphold the school’s ethos of ambition, respect, and community.

 Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Degree in Science or a related discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

  • Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 (ECTs with placement experience welcome).

  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of curriculum expectations.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.

  • A commitment to developing confident, curious, and motivated young people.
