About the Role

The school is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join the department for a maternity cover position running until March 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to teach in a supportive environment where English is a valued and well‑resourced subject. The role is suitable for an ECT for English seeking a role in a supportive department and an experienced Teacher of English seeking a longer term contract. The school will also consider unqualified English Teachers that have experience teaching in Secondary Schools in the UK. 

Key Responsibilities

• Teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons that inspire a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking

• Assessing student progress and providing constructive, timely feedback

• Creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports high expectations

• Contributing to the wider English department and whole‑school initiatives

Ideal Candidate

• UK‑qualified teacher with QTS (or working towards it)

• Recent experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4

• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for high‑quality teaching

• Confident classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management

• Committed to safeguarding and maintaining high professional standards
