Behaviour Mentor – Burnham

Challenging Behaviour | ASAP Start | SEMH & Alternative Settings

Supply Desk is recruiting a resilient and experienced Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs in schools and specialist provisions across Burnham and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for someone confident in managing complex behaviours and supporting pupils’ emotional regulation and personal development.

This is an ASAP start position for candidates passionate about making a positive impact on vulnerable pupils.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide targeted behavioural and emotional support to pupils who struggle to engage in the classroom due to social, emotional, or mental health needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning.

Support may include:

  • One-to-one behaviour mentoring
  • Small group interventions
  • De-escalation and behaviour regulation support
  • Reintegration into lessons following incidents
  • Implementing behaviour support plans and strategies

You may support pupils with:

  • SEMH needs
  • Challenging and high-risk behaviour
  • Trauma and attachment-related behaviours
  • ADHD
  • Autism with behavioural difficulties

Roles are available in mainstream schools, SEMH provisions, and alternative education settings in Burnham.

Requirements

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
  • Strong confidence with de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and restorative approaches
  • Ability to remain calm, consistent, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience following behaviour support plans and policies
  • Availability for an ASAP start in Burnham
