SEND TA – Uckfield

Supply Desk is a trusted education recruitment specialist working across Primary, SEND, and Secondary settings throughout East and West Sussex and Brighton & Hove. We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to support schools in Uckfield and the surrounding areas.

About the Role

Do you have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in education? We are looking for caring and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a range of primary and specialist provisions in Uckfield.

In this role, you will support pupils with diverse needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to ensure pupils receive the tailored support they need to access learning and reach their potential.

This is a flexible opportunity, offering day-to-day, short-term, and long-term placements, with the potential to secure permanent positions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group support tailored to pupils’ specific needs.
• Assist in adapting lesson materials to suit different learning abilities.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction.
• Support the implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning plans.
• Help manage behaviour positively and consistently.
• Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• A good understanding of additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, and SEMH.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
• A flexible and professional attitude.
