The Opportunity

Your Role

You will take on a lively and engaged Year 1 class, guiding pupils through the important transition into Key Stage 1. The role offers the chance to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum while helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the Year 1 curriculum

  • Teaching core subjects, including phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics to a high standard

  • Supporting early literacy and numeracy development through targeted and creative approaches

  • Creating a positive, well-managed classroom environment where pupils feel safe and motivated

  • Assessing progress effectively and using data to inform teaching and interventions

  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues

  • Contributing to the wider life of the school and its collaborative culture

About You

The school is seeking a teacher who brings energy, commitment, and a genuine passion for early education.

You will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience within Key Stage 1 (Year 1 experience desirable)

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum, including phonics screening

  • Be organised, adaptable, and confident in managing classroom behaviour

  • Show enthusiasm for supporting young learners both academically and pastorally

  • Be a proactive and positive team player
