Salary: £34,398 – £46,839 (dependent on experience)

The Opportunity

A welcoming and community-driven primary school in St Albans is looking to appoint an enthusiastic KS1 Teacher from September 2026. Known for its supportive leadership and inclusive ethos, the school provides an environment where both pupils and staff are encouraged to thrive.

This opportunity is ideal for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) seeking to build strong foundations in Key Stage 1 within a collaborative and well-resourced setting.

Your Role

You will take on a lively and engaged Year 1 class, guiding pupils through the important transition into Key Stage 1. The role offers the chance to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum while helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the Year 1 curriculum

• Teaching core subjects, including phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics to a high standard

• Supporting early literacy and numeracy development through targeted and creative approaches

• Creating a positive, well-managed classroom environment where pupils feel safe and motivated

• Assessing progress effectively and using data to inform teaching and interventions

• Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues

• Contributing to the wider life of the school and its collaborative culture

About You

The school is seeking a teacher who brings energy, commitment, and a genuine passion for early education.

You will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have experience within Key Stage 1 (Year 1 experience desirable)

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum, including phonics screening

• Be organised, adaptable, and confident in managing classroom behaviour

• Show enthusiasm for supporting young learners both academically and pastorally

• Be a proactive and positive team player
