SEN Teaching Assistant – Watford

Location: Watford area
Start Date: Immediate Start Available
Contract: Full-time
Pay: £85–£115 per day (Dependent on experience)

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Watford area. This rewarding role involves working alongside teaching staff and the SEN department to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of additional learning needs, helping them engage positively with education and reach their individual goals.

Key Duties:

• Provide targeted support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
• Deliver individualised support on a one-to-one basis as well as within small group settings
• Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and participating fully in classroom lessons
• Support the development of positive behaviours, emotional wellbeing, and social skills
• Observe, monitor, and contribute to records relating to pupil progress and development
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure effective support strategies are implemented
• Adapt learning approaches and interventions to meet the specific needs of individual pupils
• Foster independence, resilience, and self-confidence in learners
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive educational environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (desirable)
• A good understanding of a variety of SEN needs and approaches to supporting them effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence in promoting positive behaviour and engagement
• A genuine enthusiasm for supporting children and young people's development
• A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
• Experience within a primary or secondary school setting (advantageous)
