About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious HLTA looking to take on additional responsibility, supporting learning across a range of year groups and occasionally leading whole-class sessions.

You will work closely with teachers and senior leaders to help raise attainment, support pupil progress, and create an engaging learning environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Support teaching and learning across the primary curriculum.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and pupil engagement.
  • Support children with varying learning needs and abilities.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.

Candidate Requirements

  • HLTA qualification or relevant experience.
  • Previous experience working within a primary school.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • A positive and adaptable approach.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
