Salary: £29,344–£44,919

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will support pupils at a key stage in their development, preparing them for the transition into KS2.

Key responsibilities
Teach Year 2 curriculum across core subjects
Deliver phonics, reading, and writing lessons
Prepare pupils for KS1 assessments
Support pupils with different learning needs
Maintain classroom routines
Track progress and provide support
Communicate with parents and staff

The classroom environment
Lessons are structured and predictable
Pupils feel supported
Behaviour is consistent
Learning builds steadily

Skills and experience
Experience in KS1 teaching
Strong phonics knowledge
Clear classroom management
Organisation and planning

What success looks like
Improved reading and writing
Greater pupil confidence
Stable classroom routines

QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with KS1 experience
