Job Title: English Teacher – Part-Time

Contract Type: Part-Time (.6 FTE – 3 days per week), Fixed-Term Contract (1 Year)
Salary: M3–UPS3 (pro rata)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Rickmansworth from September 2026. This is a part-time position (.6 FTE, 3 days per week) on a one-year fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable practitioner with a proven track record of delivering high-quality English teaching and learning. The school is looking for a teacher who can inspire pupils, raise attainment and foster a positive learning environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

Due to the current structure of the department, this position is suitable for teachers at M3 level and above. Applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs), including those undertaking their second year of induction, will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing clear feedback and targeted support.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance and achievement.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents.
  • Contribute positively to departmental and whole-school initiatives.
  • Uphold the school's commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • A minimum of three years' teaching experience (M3 or above).
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • A thorough understanding of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A professional, proactive and reflective approach to teaching.
