About the Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil requiring additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and fully engage in school life.
You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to create a positive, structured, and nurturing environment where the pupil can thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
Providing Individualised Support
Deliver focused one-to-one assistance tailored to the pupil’s specific learning and developmental needs.
Supporting Learning and Daily Routines
Help the pupil participate fully in classroom activities, routines, and wider school life by adapting tasks where needed.
Promoting Confidence and Independence
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and the development of social and independent learning skills.
Monitoring Progress
Observe, record, and report on pupil progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff and contributing to support strategies.
Supporting Education Plans
Assist with the delivery and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other personalised learning targets.
Working as Part of the SEN Team
Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, support staff, and parents to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach.
Contributing to School Life
Play an active role in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all pupils.
About You
The ideal candidate will be calm, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
- Demonstrates strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Can confidently follow guidance from teaching staff and SEN professionals
- Is able to support both academic learning and emotional development
- Holds an enhanced DBS certificate or is willing to obtain one
