We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager – Corporate to provide comprehensive financial oversight across a portfolio of South African and international legal entities. This pivotal role encompasses responsibility for financial close, reporting, statutory compliance, audit support, and financial controls. You will also provide technical accounting guidance and lead a small, high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes across assigned legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Review and approve journals, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, intercompany balances, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review management accounts, reporting packs and financial statements for completeness and accuracy.
- Lead the preparation and review of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and relevant statutory requirements.
- Analyse entity-level financial results, investigating material movements, variances, risks and unusual transactions.
- Support consolidation and group reporting activities to deliver accurate group financial information.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex and non-routine issues to ensure compliance and best practise.
- Maintain strict adherence to accounting policies, statutory obligations and internal governance requirements.
- Foster and maintain a robust financial control environment, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and controls.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, overseeing the timely resolution of audit findings.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local and international finance teams, business leaders and professional advisers.
- Lead, manage, coach and develop a small finance team to maximise their potential and performance.
- Drive continuous improvements in close, reconciliation and reporting processes, including the effective utilisation of finance systems and automation tools.
Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce – essential.
- A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in finance and accounting, including significant exposure at financial management or senior review level.
- At least 5 years’ experience overseeing financial activities and period-end close across multiple legal entities.
- At least 5 years’ experience reviewing annual financial statements and supporting statutory reporting requirements.
- Strong practical application of IFRS within a corporate or group environment.
- Experience working across South African and international companies or cross-border finance teams.
- Proven experience in managing and developing a finance team.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit findings effectively.
- Sound knowledge of financial controls, governance, risk management and statutory compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with ERP and financial reporting systems.
- Understanding of finance process automation and its application.
