The Role

Our Hong Kong construction and engineering team has extensive knowledge of construction and engineering policies written by the Hong Kong and International markets and the requisite skills to settle construction and engineering claims quickly and amicably.

A loss adjuster will receive claims details and instructions from our clients (Insurers/reinsurers/brokers), followed by site inspections to gather necessary information on the loss/damage/remedial works, agree an action plan with the client and provide guidance on the policy coverage to the claim, and reporting to our clients on the details of the claim. You will be providing direct support to contractors / subcontractors / third party claimants etc. moving them through the various stages of the claim. This will involve the collating and analysis of claim supporting documents to validate the remedial works / costs and provide settlement proposals in accordance with the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To perform a loss adjusting function in respect of new claims and those already handled in the offices which have been delegated by Directors. This will involve, but not be limited to: -
  • Receiving and acknowledging new claims instructions
  • Managing and coordinating claims in a timely and professional manner within agreed SLA’s
  • Undertaking site visits and meeting with Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, Claimants, Insureds and other interested parties
  • Preparing reports commenting in detail on all aspects of the claim including legal and policy liability considerations, potential quantum and future actions
  • Instructing and coordinating with independent experts such as surveyors, lawyers, forensic scientists and other experts as necessary
  • Communicating regularly with all interested parties, calculating and approving interim payments, preparing interim reports and other communications
  • Calculating, negotiating and agreeing settlement of claims, and preparing accurate final reports.
  1. To assist in and develop the effective marketing of CTA Construction Team and wider P&C Department. This will include, but not be limited to: -
  • Developing working relationships with existing Clients
  • Helping to identify and plan approaches to new Clients
  • Hosting and attending networking events outside of office hours
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of presentations and tenders to Clients and potential Clients
  • Assisting others with their marketing functions.
    • Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

    • University degree qualified in Construction / Engineering / Surveying / Law / other relevant subject.
    • Holding professional adjusting certification or willing to undertake further study to attain loss adjusting qualifications.
    • 0-3 years of relevant post-graduate experience in the construction or insurance sector would be an advantage.
    • High standard of customer service skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong analytical and report writing skills, with a strong attention to detail
    • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work as part of a small professional team.
    • Able to use initiative

Required Skills
