The Role

Since its establishment in 2019, our Hong Kong Construction & Engineering (C&E) team has achieved consistent year-on-year growth and now holds the leading market position in C&E adjusting within the Hong Kong market. This position involves investigation, evaluation and management of insurance claims. The role will require to provide an efficient and high-quality liability claims handling service for various insurers. The role will be providing direct support to policy holders whilst reporting to their Insurers in respect to the claim investigation findings.

Key Responsibilities

1. To perform a loss adjusting function in respect of new claims and those already handled in the offices which have been delegated by Senior Adjusters. This will involve, but not be limited to:

• Receiving and acknowledging new claims instructions
• Managing and coordinating claims in a timely and professional manner
• Undertaking site visits and meeting with Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, Claimants, Insureds and other interested parties
• Preparing reports commenting in detail on all aspects of the claim including legal and policy liability considerations, potential quantum and future actions
• Instructing and controlling surveyors, lawyers, forensic scientists and other experts as necessary
• Communicating regularly with all interested parties, calculating and approving interim payments, preparing interim reports and other communications
• Calculating, negotiating and agreeing settlement of claims, and preparing accurate final reports.

1. To assist in and develop the effective marketing of Charles Taylor Adjusting. This will include, but not be limited to: -

• Developing working relationships with existing Clients
• Helping to identify and plan approaches to new Clients
• Hosting and attending networking events outside of office hours
• Assisting in the preparation and delivery of presentations and tenders to Clients and potential Clients
• Assisting others with their marketing functions

1. Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

Required Skills

• Loss adjusting experience within Construction & Engineering or large and complex Property & Casualty, preferably with exposure to commercial property damage losses, including Business Interruption and/or C&E claims
• University degree qualified in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline (e.g. Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Project Management)
• Holds a professional adjusting certification, or has willingness to undertake further study to obtain loss adjusting qualifications
• Native English language speaker, with excellent report writing skills
• Enthusiasm and commitment towards furthering technical skills and career as a Loss Adjuster
• Strong focus on customer service excellence at all times
• High attention to detail and analytical skills
• Microsoft Office site literacy
