The Role
Since its establishment in 2019, our Hong Kong Construction & Engineering (C&E) team has achieved consistent year-on-year growth and now holds the leading market position in C&E adjusting within the Hong Kong market.
In this role, you will provide strategic and hands-on senior-level technical leadership and oversight,
responsible for supporting complex, high-value, and technically challenging claims across major infrastructure, civil engineering, building construction, and energy projects. The role will act as the technical authority within the team, ensuring best-in-class adjusting standards, robust technical analysis, and defensible claim outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with international and HK based C&E clients, brokers, insurers, reinsurers, and legal advisors, while also mentoring and developing adjusting talent within the team.

Key Responsibilities
- 1. Technical Leadership:
- Provide expert technical guidance on large, complex, and contentious C&E losses, including CAR/EAR, and third-party liability claims.
- Oversee and review causation analysis, quantum assessment, scope of works, delay analysis, and policy interpretation to ensure technical accuracy and defensibility.
- Act as the internal escalation point for complex engineering and coverage matters.
- Establish and maintain high technical standards across the team, ensuring consistency of approach and robust investigative methodology.
- Oversee the quality, structure, and clarity of all major loss reports, ensuring they are technically sound, commercially balanced, well-reasoned, and aligned with client expectations.
- Review and sign off on complex and high-value reports prior to issuance, providing constructive feedback and mentoring to improve analytical depth and written presentation.
- Develop and implement reporting best practices, templates, and technical guidance notes to enhance overall report quality and consistency.
- 2. Major Loss Oversight:
- Lead or support the handling of high-profile and high-value losses.
- Conduct site inspections where required and interface with engineers, contractors, project managers, and forensic experts.
- Provide strategic direction on claim resolution, negotiation, and settlement.
- 3. Client & Market Engagement:
- Provide management support to the local leadership team, with tasks such as long and short-term planning, new business ideas, and proposals.
- Developing strategic relationships with existing Clients
- Identifying and planning targeted approaches to new Clients
- Assisting other department / team members with their business development activities
- Participating in cross-functional collaboration to ensure holistic market representation of CTA’s full-service offering
- Hosting and attending formal and social client events
- Assisting in the preparation and delivery of client presentations, pitches and tenders
- Attending client meetings, presenting portfolio /account updates, and addressing service issues or improvement opportunities.
- 4. Governance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure technical consistency, compliance, and quality standards across the team.
- Review reports prior to issuance on complex matters.
- Support development of internal technical guidelines and best practice frameworks.
- 5. Talent Development:
- Provide mentorship and coaching to less experienced adjusters within the C&E team.
- Deliver internal technical training sessions as required
- Support recruitment and technical capability building within the business.
- Represent and promote Charles Taylor as an Employer of Choice, whilst monitoring the external market, identifying opportunities to hire high calibre adjusters who will enhance CTA’s bench strength
- Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

Required Skills
- Significant C&E Loss Adjusting experience, with substantial tenure spent in a Technical Director / Leadership / Advisor role
- A university degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline (e.g. Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Project Management)
- Holds a professional adjusting certification, or has willingness to undertake further study to obtain loss adjusting qualifications
- Native English language speaker, with high-calibre report writing skills
- Enthusiasm for developing, coaching and mentoring lesser experienced Adjusters within the organisation.
- Continued commitment towards furthering technical expertise and self-development as a senior leader in the Loss Adjusting industry
- Holds self and others to high standard of professionalism, integrity, and client-focused service excellence
- Technology savvy – high competency in utilising Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent problem solving and complex claims management skills at a senior level
- Strong analytical and strategic decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
