The Role

This role sits within Finance Group Shared Services and is responsible for Record-to-Report (R2R) operations for the Adjusting business portfolio including preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet ownership and general finance accounting tasks. The incumbent will be expected to support and work closely with the assigned EUROPE & UK Financial Accountant as well as with the Business Partnering team.

As this role supports Europe and UK entities, the hours are aligned to European time zone: 3pm - 11pm (first week of the month), 12pm - 8pm (rest of the month)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Accountant in Performing comprehensive, timely and robust month end close and financials, delivering accurate and meaningful numbers and reporting these to the Group centre for consolidation.
  • Assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations process, ensuring reconciliation is conducted in a robust and timely manner, that old balances are investigated and resolved and that the output stands up to scrutiny from external auditors.
  • Preparing & posting of journals as assigned by Accountant
  • Preparing calculations of inter-company account reconciliations, recharges and revaluations.
  • Carry out multi-currency bank reconciliations and calculate any revaluations.
  • Review capital expenditure monthly, calculating the depreciation charge.  
  • Assist in tax related accounting activities including producing the quarterly GST/SST/VAT returns, statutory reporting (GAAP and IFRS) and liaising with tax agents in providing information to produce and file company corporation tax return, ensuring returns are submitted to authorities by the deadlines stipulated. 
  • Assist in the year end process on the preparation of the annual statutory accounts for the assigned Europe/UK legal entities in the R2R portfolio, supporting Accountant in ensuring that audit queries are resolved promptly and Statutory Accounts are signed on time.
  • To support standardization initiatives rolled out by the group and follow policies and new processes implemented in the entity efficiently and effectively.
  •  Ensuring internal controls processes are followed in compliance with company policy
  • Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

Required Skills

  • Semi-qualified Accountant with 4 years minimum commercial accounting experience preferably in multinational company
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership to the role assigned
  • Strong accounting, analytical, time management and problem-solving skills with attention to details with a pro-active mindset
  • Must be able to work independently, prioritise work under tight schedules, is deadline driven, focused and deliver quality results.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent spoken and written English that enable effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Highly numerate with a keen willingness to learn
  • Broad experience in accounting and tax and familiar and up to date with accounting principles including IFRS from large multinational company.
  • Experience with SUN & Cognos Controller system would be useful but not essential
  • Willing to work UK hours: 3pm - 11pm (first week of the month), 12pm - 8pm (rest of the month)
